SIOUX FALLS, SD – Looking to bring last week's home momentum on the road, the University of Mary volleyball team couldn't overcome a slow start. The Marauders dropped the first two sets before extending the match to four in a 3-1 (25-18, 25-19, 14-25, 25-18) Northern Sun loss at the University of Sioux Falls.
The Marauders (7-16 overall, 2-11 NSIC), fresh off a sweep of two home matches last week, didn't find their firepower until overwhelming the Cougars (10-12, 6-7) in the third set. Sioux Falls recovered to take the fourth set and win the night.
Nehkyah Ellis led the Marauders with 11 kills and added eight digs.
Ally Gruber and
Maddie Cooper both chipped in nine kills.
Alexandria Harper chipped in six kills and a team-best five blocks.
Kameron Selvig had a double double with 30 assists and 10 digs. She also had three kills and three aces. Kaia Suecker led all players with 21 digs.
Chloe Solheid added 13.
Sadie Voss led all players with 17 kills for USF.
The Marauders next face their biggest challenge of the year when UMary visits #1 Wayne State College at 3 pm on Saturday, October28, in Wayne, NE.
