RECORD
UMary is 2-0 on the season… Emporia State is 0-2-0.

LAST WEEK
The Marauders captured a pair of 2-0 wins last weekend at the Rimrock Classic. UMary opened the season with a 2-0 victory over Back Hills State University. The trip to Billings, MT, wrapped up with a 2-0 win over homestanding MSU Billings.

WALTMAN SETS UMARY CAREER SHUTOUT RECORD
Madisyn Waltman set the Marauders career shutout record in the UMary season-opening 2-0 win over Black Hills State. It was the 26th career clean sheet for Waltman. A starter since opening day of her freshman season in 2028, the 2-time All-Northern Sun performer made four saves in the game as the Marauders defense kept the Yellow Jackets attack in check all game. The former record of 25 shutouts was held by Kristen Werner during an impressive run from 2001-04 that included NAIA national tournament appearances for the Marauders.

MEEKS NAMED NSIC DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Sophomore Mary Meeks scored a goal and keyed a dominant defensive effort for the Marauders on the opening weekend of the season to earn Meeks Northern Sun Defensive Player of the Week honors. UMary opened the 2022 season with a 2-0 win over Black Hills State University. The Marauders held the Yellow Jackets to four total shots in the game. In game two UMary defeated tournament host MSU Billings. Meeks scored a goal in the 60th minute to seal the Marauders win. The defender from Boise, ID, played all 90 minutes as the Marauders limited the Yellowjackets to eight total shots with only one on frame. For the weekend UMary gave up just 12 shots total and no goals. Only five shots were on frame as the Marauders posted back-to-back clean sheets.

FOUR SCORE
Four different Marauders scored on the opening weekend. Kendra Park and Taylor Meyrick posted counters in the opener against the Yellow Jackets. In game two, MaLiah Burke and Mary Meeks each scored against the Yellowjackets. For Burke and Meeks it was their first collegiate goals.

BIG DEBUT
Rio Spruenken had a big opening game for UMary. The freshman midfielder from Germany posted two assists in the win over Black Hills State.

BLANKETY BLANK
The last time the Marauders opened the season with two shutouts was 2019 when UMary posted three straight clean sheets to open the season.

DOMINANT
Through two games the Marauders own a 38-12 edge in shots and a 22-5 advantage in shots on frame.

BACK-TO-BACK-TO-BACK-TO-BACK
The Marauders look to extend their streak of post-season appearances to five in 2022. In 2021 UMary qualified for postseason play for the fourth straight season and the fifth time overall under the direction of UMary head coach Sarah Cook… The four straight NSIC tournament appearances is the second-longest streak in program history. UMary qualified for the postseason its first seven years in the league (2006-2012).
