INDIANAPOLIS, IN –
Alyssa Becker will get her shot to earn All-American honors for a second straight season. The University of Mary sophomore was selected by the NCAA Division II Men's and Women's Cross Country Championships to compete at the national championships on December 2, 2022, in Seattle, WA.
Returning to her home state for the NCAA championships, Becker finished 10
th at the 2022 NCAA Central Region championships on Saturday. The sophomore from Seabeck, WA, covered the 6000 meter Tom Rutledge Cross Country Course in 20:37.5 to lead the Marauders efforts.
Becker finished 17
th in the nation at the 2021 NCAA championships to earn All-American honors as a freshman.
Thirty-four teams were selected to participate in the women's championships. The top three seven-person teams automatically qualified from each of the eight regions for a total of 24 teams. Ten additional teams were selected at-large. After determining who qualified via the team selections, 27 additional individuals were selected to participate in the women's championship through an automatic qualifier and at-large selection process.
Becker was an at-large selection.
The championships will be held Dec. 2 at Chambers Creek Regional Park in University Place, WA. Seattle Pacific University will serve as the host. The women's race is slated for 1:15 pm central time.
