PUEBLO, CO – The University of Mary volleyball team kicked off the 2021 season in style as they defeated Chadron State College 3-2 in their first game in the Steel City Showcase. UMary would lose its second game to Rollins 3-1.

PIVOT POINT
UMary dropped the first two sets (14-25, 23-25) but went on to win the next three sets (25-19, 25-19, 16-14), giving the Marauders a 3-2 win. UMary was down 14-13 to Chadron in the final set. The Marauders rattled off three straight points to earn UMary its first win of the season.

Kennedy Drewis led the team with 16 kills and 16.5 points
Bailey Harms was involved in seven blocks, including one solo and had 11 kills

Sophomore
Kameron Selvig recorded 43 assists and 11 digs, giving her a double-double. She also had three kills on ten total attacks and made zero attack errors.

GAME 2 University of Mary 1 Rollins College 3
UMary lost its first set 18-25 to Rollins but rallied back and win the second set 25-22. The Tars would then win the next two sets (17-25, 16-25) to give Rollins the victory.

Kaia Lill was second on the team with 10 assists
Kaia Sueker had a team-high 17 digs

Junior
Kennedy Drewis led the team with 11 kills which gave her 27 kills combines for the two games. Drewis also earned 28.5 points over the two contests.
