BIMARCK, ND – The University of Mary volleyball team played their first official NCAA game of the 2020-21 season against Minot State University and earned a thrilling victory in four sets to open the season 1-0. It was the Marauders first NCAA match since November 2019, a span stretching 479 days.
The Marauders won their first two sets over the Beavers, winning 25-12 in the first set and 25-20 in the second. MSU responded by taking home a tight third set a 25-23 before UMary took the fourth set 25-12 for the win.
PIVOT POINT
UMary jumped out to a big 13-7 lead in the fourth set and never looked back. The Marauders won eight out of the last nine points to win the last set 25-12.

Kaia Lill recorded 24 assists and three kills
Nehkyah Ellis had 10 kills and 11 digs for the double double
Natalia Cruz posted eight kills, 17 digs and four aces
Reagan Celaya record ten kills and two blocks
Kaia Sueker registered 12 digs
Emily Torborg had three aces
As a team the Marauders held a 12-2 edge in aces

Bailey Harms had an astounding five blocks, two of which were solo. Harms also had six kills with no attack errors in ten attempts.
