TOPEKA, KS – Alissa Alvarado pitches seven brilliant innings allowing only one run to help give the University of Mary softball team their first win of the season over the University of Central Missouri 4-1.
The Marauders jumped out to an early lead after Kaylee Kannegiesser doubled to right-center in the first inning to score Mariah Sanchez and Brooke De Jonge.
UMary added to their lead in the top of the fourth as Rachael Laetsch reached on an error scoring De Jonge.
De Jonge continued her great day as she singled down the left-field line which allowed her sister Eryn De Jonge to cross home plate giving the Marauders a 4-0 lead.
PIVOT POINT
The Jennies were able to score one run in the bottom of the seventh inning. Alvarado shut them the rest of the way to give her the complete game.

The Marauders will travel to Aberdeen, SD, to play their next game against Northern State University on Saturday, March 6, as they will compete in a doubleheader starting a 2 pm.
