UMary's Rotunda goes for 28 and 16 in tough loss to MSU Moorhead

BISMARCK, ND – Lauren Rotunda had a season-high 28 points and 16 rebounds as the University of Mary women's basketball team fell to visiting Minnesota State University Moorhead 86-75.

The Dragons got off to a hot start as they scored 29 points in the first quarter while the Marauders scored only 15. UMary made a run in the second quarter, cutting MSUM's lead down to 38-36 before the Dragons ended the half on a 12-2 run to take a 50-38 lead. MSUM shot a blistering 10-of-12 from the three-point line in the first half.

In the third quarter, the Marauders would struggle to score as the Dragons extended their lead to 66-50. UMary fought hard in the fourth but were unable to grab the victory.

Junior forward Lexie Schneider had 12 points and 5 rebounds on 4-of-6 shooting from the field. Senior guard Macy Williams contributed eight points and a season-high seven assists.

Sophomore forward Reese Wishart had a career-high 10 points off the bench for the Marauders.

UMary was outrebounded 41-31 by MSUM. The Marauders won the turnover battle as UMary had 14 turnovers compared to 20 for the Dragons.

The Marauders shot 37.7% from the field, shooting 17.2% from behind the arc and going 24-of-29 from the charity stripe. The Dragons shot 50% from the field, shooting an astonishing 71.4% from three and going 26-of-37 from the free-throw line.

UMary (3-8, 3-6 in the NSIC) will play MSUM again at home (5-4, 4-3 in the NSIC) on Saturday, February 13, at 4:00 pm.
