UMary volleyball defeats MSU to earn third straight win

MINOT, ND –The University of Mary volleyball team (6-17, 3-11 Northern Sun) earned their third straight win as they took down Minot State University (1-19, 1-13 NSIC). The Marauders were led by Nehkyah Ellis, who had a career-high 22 kills.

UMary dropped the first set 25-21 to MSU in a close contest. The Marauders got back on track in the second set. UMary won the set 25-19, with the winning point coming on an ace from Emily Torborg.  

The Marauders would keep the momentum going as they would win a thrilling third set 26-24. Nehkyah Ellis would get the set-winning kill on an assist from Kameron Selvig.

UMary would close out the game in the fourth set as the Marauders would win 25-21. The set was tied 19-19, as UMary would grab six out of the next eight points, winning on an attacking error by the Beavers.

Kameron Selvig led the team in assists with 37 while earning five digs and four aces

Natalia Cruz had 10 digs while earning two aces

Kaia Sueker led the Marauders in digs with 15

Kayla Lewinski had seven kills and eight digs

Nehkyah Ellis earned her second straight double-double. Ellis had 22 kills and 14 digs while also contributing two aces.
