Schneider Shines In Marauders Home Opener As Marauders Fall To The Huskies

BISMARCK, ND – In the University of Mary women's basketball home opener, Lexie Schneider paced the Marauders efforts in a 60-41 loss to St. Cloud State University. The junior forward led UMary with 12 points and seven rebounds.  

UMary got off to a solid start ending the first quarter tied 11-11. In the second quarter, the Huskies took over and outscored the Marauders by 11 for the quarter and led 32-21 at the end of the half.

The Marauders tried to get back into the game in the third quarter but still trailed by 10 going into the final quarter. UMary struggled to score in the fourth, managing only six points, and would go on to lose the game 60-41.

Senior forward Lauren Rotunda had 11 points while grabbing seven rebounds. Senior guard Macy Williams dished out a team-high five assists while scoring 11 points.

For the Huskies Katrina Theis led the team in scoring with 13 points and grabbed five boards. Nikki Kilboten was second on the team in scoring with 11 points.

Turnovers were a big story for the Marauders as they turned the ball over 21 times compared to the Huskies with 13 turnovers. The Marauders did well on the boards as they outrebounded SCSU 35 to 30.

UMary shot 34.1% from the field and 20% from three while going seven of 11 from the free-throw line. SCSU shot 44.4% from the field and 22.2% from behind the arc while going 8-15 from the charity stripe.

The Marauder's next game takes place at home against SCSU on Saturday, January 16, at 4 pm.
