ABERDEEN, SD - The University of Mary swimming team kicked off the 2020-21 season with a 120-85 victory over Northern State University. Northern Sun champion Victoria Murillo shined today as she won both of her solo events, taking the 200 free with a time of 1:56.70 and the 500 freestyle in 5:11.82.
NCAA qualifier Andrea Lee claimed the 1650 free, recording a time of 17:46.79.
Breena Delegge won the 50-yard free in a clocking of 24.74. The sophomore would also go on to win the 100-yard free with a time of 54.10.
Rylie Webb posted a time of 1:14:41 to win the 200-yard medley. Webb also scored a victory in the 100-yard breaststroke recording a time of 1:07.07.
Abbey Zajdzinski won the 100 fly with a time of 1:00.22. Houston Mackenzie (1:03.17) took third place.
Freshmen Madison Yonke took second in the 100-yard backstroke posting a time of 1:02.49.
The Marauders would wrap up the day by winning the 200-yard free relay. The team of Murillo (25.28), Yonke (25.15), Lee (25.45) and Delegge (24.37) would take first with a time of 1:40.25. Finishing third was the team of Andrea Smith, Zajdzinski, Korie Riely and Mady Scherwinski (1:45.70).
UMary's next swim meet will be on the road at Sioux Fall, SD, against Augustana University on Saturday, January 16, at noon. Later in the day the Marauders will take on the University of Sioux Falls at 4:15 pm.
