ORLANDO, FL – The University of Mary tennis team is off to the sunshine state for five matches during their Spring Break Trip. The Marauders will face off against Cedarville University (4-4), Wartburg College (13-7), Carnegie Mellon University (10-2), Rockhurst University (1-2), and Lee University (3-4) between March 5 through March 10 in Orlando.
The Marauders come into the weekend with an impressive 7-1 record. UMary will battle talented opponents with three of the five schools having a .500 or above record.
The last time the Marauders took the court was for two dominant wins in their final two home matches of the season. UMary claimed a 5-2 win over a very good Minnesota Duluth team, followed by a 6-1 win over St. Cloud State on Senior Day.
Tasha Dembo leads the team from her spot at number one singles with a 7-1 record. Dembo and
Yusra Hegy have teamed up in number one doubles to start the season 8-0. Hegy boasts a 6-2 record from her spot at number two singles.
Jamie Stoppler has an impressive 5-1 record in number four singles.
Kali Askvig owns a 4-2 record in number six singles with
Kelsey Lajom going 5-3 in number three singles. The Marauders lone senior
Danielle Wolf is 2-3 at number five singles.
The duos of Askvig / Lajom and Stoppler / Wolf both have 6-2 records in doubles play.
After their Florida trip, the Marauders will play in three road matches before beginning the NSIC tournament.
