MARSHALL, MN – The University of Mary and Southwest Minnesota State found themselves in a thrilling back and forth wrestling dual with both teams claiming five matches. The Marauders would prevail claiming a 18-16 victory. With the Marauders trailing 16-15 heading into the heavyweight bout, Dom Tudor claimed the win by decision to give the Marauders the victory. Eight of the ten bouts were decided by decision. Phillip Springsteen's pin at 174 proved to be the difference in the dual.
 
With the win the Marauders improve to 3-7 on the season and 1-4 in conference play, picking up their first NSIC win today. SMSU falls to 4-7 on the season and 3-5 in the NSIC.
 
SMSU jumped out to a 9-0 lead, claiming the first three matches by decision.
 
Devin Steidler (149) got the Marauders on the board with a win by 10-5 decision. After trailing 5-1 in the second, Steidler rallied off nine unanswered to take the win.
 
#12 Braydon Huber (157) kept the Marauders going with a 12-5 decision. Huber jumped out an 8-1 lead and was able to hold on from there to win the bout.
 
Payton Hume evened the score up at nine with his 6-4 decision. Leading 5-4 at the end of the second, Hume sealed the deal on his victory with an escape in the third period.
 
Phillip Springsteen didn't waste any time earning the Marauders six points and giving them their first lead of the dual, 15-9. The Marauders All-American pinned his SMSU foe in just 41 seconds.
 
The Mustangs were able to claim 184 by major decision and 197 by decision to retake of 16-15 lead.
 
Dominic Tudor earned the bout win and dual win for the Marauders with his victory by a 6-0 decision. After a scoreless first period, Tudor scored three points in each of the last two periods to clinch the dual for the Marauders.
 
The Marauders will head to Moorhead, MN on Thursday, February 14 to take on MSU Moorhead for their next dual. The Marauders and Dragons are set to square off at 7 PM.
