ABERDEEN, SD – The University of Mary wrestling team ended the season on a high note, downing the #23 Northern State Wolves by a score of 20-16. With tonight's win, the Marauders finished the regular season on a four dual winning streak. UMary claimed six of the ten bouts on the night in the back and forth battle between the two highly competitive teams. Braydon Huber's win at 157 was the highlight of the night, defeating #5 James Burks of Northern State.
 
Jeremy Leintz got the Marauders going with an 8-2 decision at 125. Leintz held a 7-0 lead before Landen Fischer was able to tally his first points of the match.
 
The Wolves were able to claim 133 by major decision and 141 by decision by take a 7-3 lead in the dual.
 
Devin Steidler evened the Marauders and Wolves up at seven with his 12-0 major decision. He jumped out to an early 6-0 lead in the first after a takedown and a four point near fall and never looked back from there.
 
In the match of the night, #12 Braydon Huber beat #5 James Burks 14-8. Trailing 2-0 in the second, Huber recorded a four point near fall to take the lead and claim momentum heading into the third. Five escapes and a pair of takedowns in the third led Huber to eventually claim the victory.
 
NSU claimed 165 lbs by decision to even the score up at 10 all.
 
Phillip Springsteen came out and dominated at 174, earning a 12-2 major decision. This earned the Marauders four points and handed them a 14-10 lead.
 
The Wolves retook a 16-14 lead with a win by fall at 184.
 
An escape by Gerardo Jaime proved to be the difference at 197. Jaime claimed the 1-0 win to give UMary a 17-16 lead.
 
The 285 matchup would be the deciding bout of the night. Dominic Tudor came up clutch, earning a 5-0 decision to clinch the victory for UMary.
 
The Marauders will be back in action next weekend for Super Regionals in Sioux Falls, SD.
