Jaylan White, the Marauders hit just two of 12 shots in the last seven minutes of a 68-62 loss to visiting University of Minnesota Crookston.
The Marauders shot the ball exceptionally well in the first half, connecting on 54.2 percent of their field goal attempts as UMary and UMC entered intermission tied at 33-33. The second half was a different story. The Marauders shot just 32.3 percent, including a 1-for-12 effort on 3s, to finish at 41.8 percent for the game. UMC was consistent throughout the game, shooting 46.4 percent for the game.
Glenn Jordan gave the Marauders (11-15 overall, 6-14 NSIC) their final lead of the night at 55-54 following a free throw. Harrison Cleary then showed why he is the NSIC's all-time leading scorer, posting six of UMC's next seven points as the Golden Eagles (11-15, 7-13) moved in front and held down the lead the remainder of the way.
Matthew Kreklow led the Marauders with 18 points and eight rebounds. He made 8-of-11 shots and two blocks.
Wyatt Carr added 12 points and four rebounds. White scored 14 points.
Trever Kaiser came off the bench to score nine points and grab six rebounds.
Cleary scored a game-high 28 points for UMC, hitting four treys and all six free throws. Malcolm Cohen had 10 points and nine rebounds. Javier Nicolau also had 10 points.
The Marauders close out the 2019-20 regular season on the road with games at Northern State University on Friday, February 21, and at MSU Moorhead on Saturday, February 22.
