THIS WEEK
After four straight home games the University of Mary women's basketball team is back on the road. The Marauders head to Minnesota to battle Minnesota Crookston and Bemidji State. UMary and UMC square off on Friday, January 24 at 3:30 PM in Crookston, MN. The Marauders will then take on Bemidji State on Saturday, January 25 in Bemidji, MN.

LAST TIME OUT
Cassie Askvig had a record-breaking night the last time the Marauders took the court. The Marauders forward scored 45 points against SMSU. Her 45 points was not only a UMary record but it was also a Northern Sun record. She made 17 free throws during the game to tie another UMary single game record. The Marauders would fall in both home games. Dropping the first by a score of 80-62 to #11 Sioux Falls. They followed that up with a heartbreaking overtime loss to Southwest Minnesota State, 91-85.

The Marauders come into the weekend with a 12-9 record, starting the season 6-6 in NSIC play.

OPPO RESEARCH – MINNESOTA CROOKSTON
Minnesota Crookston comes into the weekend with a 2-14 record, going 1-11 against Northern Sun opponents. The Golden Eagles conference win came in a 66-65 victory over the Wayne State Wildcats. UMC is led by Abby Guidinger who averages 10.1 PPG. Bren Fox leads the team in rebounding with 7.1 RPG, the 11
th best average in the NSIC.
LAST MATCHUP
The last time these two teams met up was last season when the Marauders took down UMC 63-58 on the road.
Cassie Askvig had 17 points and nine rebounds with
Coral Gillette pitching in 11 points. The Marauders shot an impressive 50 percent from deep during the game.
HISTORY LESSON
The Marauders are 18-8 against the Golden Eagles since UMary joined the Northern Sun in the 2006-07 season… UMary is 8-5 at home and 10-3 on the road vs. UMC… The Marauders swept the 2018-19 season series.

Bemidji State comes into the weekend with a 7-9 record, going 4-8 in NSIC play so far. The Beavers are led by a pair of scorers who average double figures. Trinity Myer leads the team with 13.4 PPG. Taylor Bray joins her by posting 10.1 PPG, right behind her is Brooklyn Bachmann at 9.9 PPG. The same trio of athletes are the top three rebounders on the team as well. BSU makes it difficult to score against them, holding opponents to 38.8 percent shooting from the field, the fourth lowest in the NSIC.

The last time the Marauders and Beavers met up, UMary took down BSU 73-53.
Cassie Askvig had a 25 point, 10 rebound double double.
Coral Gillette knocked down five three pointers on the game, totaling 15 points. UMary was on fire during the game, making 63.4 percent of their shots from the field and 64.3 percent from behind the arc.
HISTORY LESSON
The Beavers and Marauders began their all-time series Nov. 30, 1984, an 80-75 win by BSU, before taking a 22-year break between meetings… UMary leads the series 21-5, and has won eight of nine against BSU.

Cassie Askvig just made history! With her 45 point performance against SMSU, Askvig broke the Marauders single game scoring record. She not only broke UMary's single game scoring record but the Northern Sun single game scoring record. She wasn't done breaking records just yet, she tied the Marauders single game record for free throws made with 17 against the Mustangs.

The Marauders have had two athletes earn NSIC athlete of the week honors.

Lauren Rotunda earned the honor for her 19 point, eight rebound, six assist performance against Minot State during a dominant 81-60 win.
Cassie Askvig earned hers after averaging 34 PPG and 5.5 RPG. She also dropped a career high of 36 points over the weekend.

Cassie Askvig currently has 1,547 career points and 755 career rebounds. She ranks eighth all-time in points and fifth all-time in rebounds. She also sits sixth all-time in career blocks with 66.
