BURNSVILLE, MN – The Northern Sun awarded 45 University of Mary student-athletes NSIC All-Academic honors for the 2018-19 spring sports season. Twenty-one Marauders were named to the NSIC All-Academic Team of Excellence and 24 earned NSIC All-Academic Team recognition.
Thirteen Marauders from the men's outdoor track & field team, 12 baseball, 12 women's outdoor track & field, five softball and three tennis scholar-athletes earned NSIC All-Academic team honors recognizing their work in the classroom.
To be eligible for the NSIC All-Academic Team of Excellence, a student-athlete must have a 3.60 cumulative GPA or higher, while NSIC All-Academic Team members must have a 3.20 cumulative GPA or higher. Additionally, the student-athlete must be a member of the varsity traveling team, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standing at her/his institution (true freshmen, red-shirt freshmen and ineligible athletic transfers are not eligible) and must have completed at least one full academic year at that institution.
The Northern Sun honored 749 student-athletes with NSIC All-Academic honors, an increase of 78 from last fall's 601. 391 student-athletes received the Team of Excellence designation.
