Keller Leads UMary To Victory With A Walk Off Hit For Second Day In A Row In Split With USF

BISMARCK, ND – Rebekkah Keller did it all for the University of Mary softball team. For the second straight day a Keller single in extra innings knocked in the game winning run for the Marauders! The speedy junior raced to four stolen bases on the game which set a new school record. UMary honored three Marauders softball players on senior day. The three players honored were Brieann Backes, Kylie Alto, and Paige Matsuki. Backes earned a win and struck out a total of eight batters in her 12 innings of work. Alto recorded two hits and an RBI in game number two. Matsuki made incredible play after incredible play at shortshop. The three seniors dominated on senior day.  
 
With today's split the Marauders record goes to 19-25 overall and 10-14 in NSIC play.
 
GAME 1 University of Mary 0 Sioux Falls 3
Five strikeouts by Backes led UMary in game one. Sioux Falls was able to keep the Marauders bats silent, only allowing UMary to hit the ball twice. Rachael Laetsch and Kaitlyn Alvarado accounted for the Marauders two hits. USF took down UMary 3-0.

Sioux Falls was able to score three runs and hold the Marauders bats silent to take a victory in game one.

Paige Matsuki was a force at shortstop. The Marauders senior posted a game high in assists.
 
GAME 2 UMary 4 USF 3
Late inning heroics by the Marauders earned them the victory. The Marauders trailed 3-1 entering the sixth inning but runs in each of the sixth and seventh inning sent the game to extra innings. In the ninth inning Mariah Sanchez and Haley Berube each put themselves on base. This brought Rebekkah Keller to bat. Keller knew what to do in the situation and for the second game in a row she recorded the walk off hit to score the game winning run. Keller also broke a school record with four stolen bases in a game. The Marauders were able to get their bats going in game two, bouncing back and recording 12 hits on the game. Keller (3), Alvarado (2), Alto (2), Noble (2) all recorded multiple hits. Backes earned a win on senior day to give herself a career high of 11 wins. Matsuki continued to dominate at short, recording a game high of six assists.
 
PIVOT POINT
The Marauders were able to put a run on the board in both the sixth and seventh inning to tie the game up and send it to extras. Rebekkah Keller recorded the game winning hit to send home Mariah Sanchez in the ninth inning to give UMary the win.
