WAYNE, NE – The University of Mary softball team was led by
Kaitlyn Alvarado who recorded an impressive five RBIs on the day. The Marauders sophomore recorded four hits on the day with one being a homerun and another being a double. She did all of this while earning the win for UMary from the mound. Big bats by the Marauders in game one gave them an extra innings win. UMary recorded three doubles and two homeruns in the first game to clinch a 12-7 win in extra innings. The Marauders lost 4-7 in game two.
With today's split the Marauders record goes to 16-22 overall and 7-11 in NSIC play.
GAME 1 University of Mary 12 Wayne State College 7
Five unanswered runs by the Marauders sent the game into extra innings where UMary exploded for an additional five runs to clinch a 12-7 victory.
Kaitlyn Alvarado led the way for the Marauders from both the plate and from the mound. Alvarado knocked in five runs while only allowing two hits and zero runs in her five innings of work on the mound. Alvarado, Berube, Noble, and Sanchez each recorded two or more hits as a part of the Marauders 11 hit performance.
PIVOT POINT
The Marauders found themselves in a 7-2 deficit before they came storming back, scoring a total of 10 unanswered runs to end the game. A game that was tied at seven heading into extra innings was blown open by UMary. An Alvarado single knocked in the first two runs of extra innings and a
Haley Berube double brought in another three to put the game out of reach for the Wildcats.

Kaitlyn Alvarado did it all for the Marauders, dominating on the mound and at the plate. She knocked in a game high of five RBIs and pitched 5.1 scoreless innings.
GAME 2 UMary 4 WSC 7
Alvarado kept her bat going in game two, recording a double.
Kasidy Chileen and
Mariah Sanchez joined the club. The duo knocked in three of the Marauders runs with Chileen recording two RBIs and Sanchez one. The Marauders made a late push against WSC recording three runs in the seventh but the six run deficit was too much to overcome.
PIVOT POINT
Wayne State was able to jump out to a 4-1 lead in the second inning. They were then able to post a run in three of the remaining four innings that they batted in.

The Marauders had a strong final inning of play for the second straight game. UMary knocked in three runs in the seventh in game two and five in the eighth in game one.

The Marauders will head to Moorhead, MN to take on Minnesota State University Moorhead, tomorrow, April 16. UMary will battle the Dragons at 2 PM and 4 PM.
