CLERMONT, FL – The University of Mary softball team earned a split for the sixth straight day at the Florida Invite. The Marauders were led by
Kaitlyn Alvarado who had a big game both on the mound and at the plate in the teams 4-1 victory over Urbana. Five different Marauders recorded hits against Gannon in game two but it wasn't enough to propel the Marauders to victory, falling 5-2 to Gannon.
GAME 1 Urbana 1 University of Mary 4
Kaitlyn Alvarado did it from both the mound and the plate leading the Marauders to a big 4-1 victory over Urbana. A four run first inning followed by stout defense for the remainder of the game proved to be enough for the Marauders. Five different players recorded six hits on the game.
PIVOT POINT
The Marauders jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first and held onto the lead for the remainder of the game to clinch victory.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
Rebekkah Keller went 1-3 with a run scored and two stolen bases
Paige Matsuki went 1-3 with a run scored and an RBI
Kasidy Chileen went 1-4 with a run scored and two RBI's
Mariah Sanchez went 1-3 with an RBI
Kaitlyn Alvarado went 2-2 from the plate and only allowed one earned run from the mound while recording four strikeouts.
STAT OF THE GAME
Kaitlyn Alvarado did it from both the mound and the plate. The sophomore recorded a team high of two hits while pitching a complete game on the mound. Alvarado only allowed one earned run while striking out four.
GAME 2 Gannon 5 UMary 2
The Marauders scored the first and last run of the game but Gannon was able to score everything in between. A three run fifth inning by the Golden Knights proved to be the difference in the ball game. Five different Marauders accounted for five hits on the game.
PIVOT POINT
Lisa Szajn of Gannon blasted a three run homerun in the fifth inning to break a game that was tied one to one.

STAT OF THE GAME
The Marauders attempted to make a run in the bottom of the seventh inning recording three of their five hits and one of their two runs in the inning. Three runners left of base when the final out was recorded but a halt to the comeback.
ON DECK
The Marauders host their home opener on March 26. They will play in a double header against in-state rival Minot State at 2 PM and 4 PM.
