CLERMONT, FL – The University of Mary softball team earned a split for the fourth straight day at the Florida Invite. The Marauders were led by
Rebekkah Keller who blasted in the game winning homerun in the top of the seventh inning against Edinboro.
Brieann Backes closed the game out in the bottom of the seventh forcing the Fighting Scots to go three up, three down to give UMary a 2-1 victory. The Marauders fell to Stonehill College 5-2 in the first game of the day.
GAME 1 Stonehill College 5 University of Mary 2
The Marauders brought their bats against Stonehill College recording eight hits on the game compared to just six by the Skyhawks. Keller, Noble and Chileen all recorded a pair of hits but it wasn't enough to overcome Stonehill. The Marauders fell 5-2 to the Skyhawks.
PIVOT POINT
Stonehill jumped out to a 4-0 lead against UMary. The Marauders walked in the first two runs to give the Skyhawks a 2-0 lead in the first inning.

Madison Jahner only allowed one earned run during the game but five unearned runs doomed the Marauders in the 5-2 loss.

A big game by Keller led the Marauders to victory over the Fighting Scots. The junior was at the plate in the second inning when she reached on an error which pushed
Mariah Sanchez in for the first run of the game. She returned to the plate in the top of the seventh inning with the game locked at one a piece. The Marauders outfielder blasted a solo homerun to give UMary a 2-1 lead heading into the bottom of the seventh. Backes forced Edinboro into a three up and three down to clinch the win for the Marauders.

The Marauders will continue to play at the Florida Invite Thursday, March 7. UMary will take on Notre Dame College (Ohio) at 12:45 PM CST. They will follow that up with a game against Cedarville University at 3 PM CST.
