Marauders Bounce Back And Earn Win In Second Game Of The Day

CLERMONT, FL – The University of Mary softball team earned a split on day three at the Florida Invite. Similar to day two, the Marauders started the day with a loss and bounced back to gain a win. UMary started the day by falling to Saint Rose 6-3. UMary recorded more hits than the Golden Knights with nine on the game. The Marauders then bounced back and took down Alderson Broaddus 5-4. UMary recorded eight hits on the ball game. With today's split the Marauders improve to 6-8 on the season.
 
GAME 1 Saint Rose 6 University of Mary 3
The Marauders fell to the Golden Knights 6-3. UMary jumped out to an early lead, recording one run in each of the first three innings to take a 3-0 lead. Saint Rose responded by recording six unanswered runs to pull away from the Marauders. An Emma Noble sacrifice fly scored Rebekkah Keller to get UMary on the board in the first. An RBI the Rachael Laetsch and Paige Matsuki in the second and third accounted for the Marauders other two runs.
 
PIVOT POINT
A two run homer by Bowen of Saint Rose tied the game at three a piece and put momentum on the side of Saint Rose. The Golden Knights then scored two runs off of two errors by the Marauders in the fifth inning to take the lead.

The Marauders earned the split on the day with their victory over the Battlers. UMary put eight balls in play on the game that accounted for the teams five runs. The Marauders jumped out to a 5-1 lead by the end of the fourth inning. AB made things interesting by bringing the game to 5-4 in the fifth inning. Scoreless sixth and seventh innings by both teams clinched the win for the Marauders. Mariah Sanchez posted her best game of the season so far going 3-3 with an RBI, two runs scored, a triple and two stolen bases. Tori Ramirez led the team by batting in two runs on her single to center field.
 
PIVOT POINT
A Mariah Sanchez RBI single followed by a two RBI single by Tori Ramirez got the Marauders rolling in fourth inning and gave them the 5-1 lead that proved to be enough to help clinch the victory.
