Alto Smokes Two Homeruns As Golden Bears Sweep Marauders

BISMARCK, ND – The University of Mary softball team brought their bats to the ball park, recording 17 hits between the two games. The Marauders blasted three homeruns and four doubles today. Kylie Alto accounted for two of the homers. It was truly a team effort for UMary today with eight different players recording hits in the first game and seven posting hits in the second. The Marauders battled hard today but dropped both games against Concordia - St. Paul. 
 
 
GAME 1 University of Mary 6 Concordia - St. Paul 14
Eight different Marauders recorded a hit in game one against the Golden Bears with Kaitlyn Alvarado leading the team with three hits on the game. A Kylie Alto homerun in the third inning tied the ball game up at six a piece but eight unanswered runs by CSP gave the Golden Bears a 14-6 win. Brieann Backes struck out five batters for the second straight game. 
 
PIVOT POINT
The Golden Bears put up six runs in the sixth inning to break open a previously very competitive game. Before the sixth the game was 8-6 in favor of CSP.

The Marauders recorded seven hits in game two with five of them being for extra bases. Seven different athletes recorded hits on the ball game. UMary trailed 7-2 entering the bottom of the seventh when both Kylie Alto and Haley Berube both sent homers to the nearly identical spots in center field. Emma Noble kept the hitting going recording a double in the seventh. The Marauders late comeback attempt fell just short, losing to CSP 4-7. 
 
PIVOT POINT
The Golden Bears posted a five run fifth inning to take a 7-2 lead. The game was previous tied 2-2 heading into the fifth.
