Busy Weekend Ahead For UMary Softball With Games Against Minot State, MSUM, VCSU, and UMC

THIS WEEKEND
The University of Mary softball team returns to action this weekend after nearly three weeks off. They will battle four different teams over a two day period at the Minot Dome Tournament. UMary will kick the weekend off against Minot State on Friday, February 22 at 3 PM. Immediately after that game, they will take on MSU Moorhead at 5 PM. On Saturday, February 23 UMary opens the day at 10 AM against Valley City State University. The Marauders close out the tournament with a game against Minnesota Crookston at 4 PM on the 23rd.
 
LAST TIME OUT
The Marauders had their hands full the last time they took to the diamond, battling several tough teams from out west at the Desert Stinger in Las Vegas. The Marauders dropped all four games at the tournament, falling to MSU Billings 11-6, Humboldt State 7-6, #23 UC San Diego 10-2 and Concordia University (ORE.) 13-12. The Marauders battled hard with several close games but could not squeeze out a win.
 
OPPO RESEARCH–Minot State Beavers
The Beavers come into the game against the Marauders with a 4-3 record. MSU also participated in the Desert Stinger, going 1-2 at the tournament. The only common opponent that MSU and UMary had was Humboldt State which Minot State lost to 13-1 and the Marauders fell to 7-6. The Beavers have a 3-1 record at home and have won four of their last five games. 
 
OPPO RESEARCH–MSU Moorhead Dragons
Like the Marauders, the Dragons come into the Minot Dome Tournament with an 0-4 record. The Dragons fell in very close games against UMC and BSU. MSUM lost their other two games to SMSU.
 
OPPO RESEARCH–Valley City State Vikings
The Vikings come into the Minot Dome Tournament with an impressive 8-0 record. All but one of their games were decided three runs or more. The Vikings beat their opponents by an average score of 7-1. VCSU has pitched four shut outs so far this season. 
 
OPPO RESEARCH–Minnesota Crookston Golden Eagles
The Golden Eagles come into the Minot Dome Tournament with a 3-5 record. UMC has experience playing in Minot, having played four games there this season already. Five of the Golden Eagles games have been decided by two or less runs.
 
BOMBS BY BERUBE
Haley Berube blasted in two home runs at the Desert Stinger. The two homers led to 7 RBI's which leads the team. The freshman in second in the conference in home runs and third in RBI's
 
BIG BAT BEKKAH
Rebekkah Keller has a slash line of .588/.588/.765. She leads to team in batting average and on base percentage. Her ten hits and 13 total bases are both team highs. Keller and Paige Matsuki are the only Marauders to have recorded both a double and a triple on the season. Keller ranks ninth in the NSIC in batting average, third in hits, and tied for second in triples.
 
EFFICIENCY IN THE FIELD
Seven Marauders have a fielding percentage of 1.000. The Marauders have kept the errors low so far this season, only recording five in comparison to eight by the opponents. Rachael Laetsch and Kasidy Chileen are tied for the lead in put outs with 16. Paige Matsuki leads the team with six assists.
