THIS WEEK
The University of Mary women's basketball team finish out a three-game home stand when they welcome Minot State to town this weekend. The Marauders and Beavers will square off on Saturday, December 21 at 3:30 PM for their second battle of the season.
LAST TIME OUT
The last time the Marauders took the court was for a big weekend sweep in the McDowell Activity Center. The Marauders took down #22 MSU Moorhead and Northern State to complete the sweep. UMary started the weekend with a big 89-68 win over MSUM.
Cassie Askvig led the way in the game with 26 points.
Coral Gillette pitched in 18 points. The Marauders followed that up with a 75-69 win over Northern State.
Macy Williams led the team with 20 points during the game with
Lauren Rotunda coming in right behind her with 19.
THE RECORD
The Marauders come into the weekend with a 10-4 record, starting the season 4-1 in NSIC play.
OPPO RESEARCH – MINOT STATE
Minot State comes into the matchup against the Marauders with a 3-6 record, going 0-5 in NSIC play. Mariah Payne leads the Beavers with 17.4 PPG. Second on the team in scoring is Calli Delsman with 9.2 PPG. Delsman also leads the team in rebounding at 5.6 RPG. Minot State is strong on the defensive end of the ball, holding opponents to a 36.8 shooting percentage, the second lowest in the NSIC. The Beavers only give up 62 PPG which is the fifth lowest in the conference.
LAST MATCHUP
The last time these two teams met was earlier this season when the Marauders used a dominant second half to comeback and claim a 66-50 victory.
Cassie Askvig had a big double-double with 19 points and 10 rebounds. Gillette, Williams, and Rotunda all pitched in 11 points.
HISTORY LESSON
In a series that stretches back to the mid 1970s, the University of Mary holds a commanding 54-38 edge in the all-time series against Minot State University… The series went on hiatus when the Marauders moved to NCAA Division II and the Northern Sun in 2006 and resumed when the Beavers began NCAA play in 2011-12. Since renewing their Highway 83 rivalry, the Marauders hold a slight advantage over the Beavers at 10-7 overall and 9-6 in NSIC play… The Marauders recently posted recent season sweeps in 2014-15, 2016-17, and 2018-19… UMary is 4-4 at home and 6-3 on the road against Minot State over the last seven years.

Cassie Askvig is second in the conference in scoring, averaging 19.9 PPG. The Marauders lead the conference in field goal percentage (46.3). Askvig ranks fifth in the conference with a field goal percentage of 49.8 percent.

The Marauders sure know how to share the ball. The team ranks first in the conference in assists, averaging 16.93 assists per game.
Macy Williams ranks third in the conference averaging 4.1 assists per game.
Macy Williams leads the conference in assist/turnover ratio. Gillette ranks 17

The Marauders rank third in the NSIC in rebounding defense. UMary ranks third in rebounding margin with a plus 6.3 RPG average.
Lexie Schneider is fifth in the NSIC in rebounding, pulling down 8.3 boards per game. Askvig and Rotunda join her in the top 15. Askvig is tied for 11
th with 6.6 RPG. Rotunda is 13

Coming into the season as defending NSIC player of the year the expectations are high for senior
Cassie Askvig and she is living up to those expectations. The Marauders senior is averaging 19.9 PPG and 6.6 RPG early on this season.
