Box Score BISMARCK, ND – Tremendous second half shooting by the University of Mary women's basketball team led them to a hard fought win over Northern State University. The 75-69 win over the Wolves allowed the Marauders to complete the weekend sweep over two talented NSIC opponents.
Macy Williams led the Marauders with 20 points with
Lauren Rotunda coming in right behind her with 19.
Lexie Schneider pitched in 13 points and nine rebounds. The Marauders improved upon their shooting each quarter of play, knocking down 75 percent of their fourth quarter shots.
FIRST HALF BREAKDOWN
Northern State jumped out to an early lead, holding the Marauders to a slow shooting start. The Wolves were able to build up to a 10 point lead just two minutes into the second quarter. UMary closed out the half on a 17-8 run to head into half just down one.
Macy Williams highlighted the Marauders first half efforts with a team high of 11 points to go along with her four rebounds and two assists.
Lauren Rotunda pitched in seven first half points.
SECOND HALF BREAKDOWN
Lexie Schneider and
Lauren Rotunda each posted 12 second half points to lead the Marauders second half charge. UMary was able to find their stroke in half two, shooting 65 percent from the field and 50 percent from deep. A
Macy Williams three pointer jumped started a an 11-3 run by the Marauders to give them a seven point lead just 3:30 into the third quarter. The Marauders extended that lead to as much as 10 in the fourth quarter. UMary used clutch free throw shooting down the stretch to clinch the win.
