BISMARCK, ND – On a night where Cassie Askvig and Gabbie Bohl combined to score over half of the teams points, the University of Mary women's basketball team posted a double digit win over Concordia, St. Paul. In a battle of two of the Northern Sun's top teams the Marauders would come out victorious 74-62.
With the win the Marauders improve to 8-2 on the season and 6-1 in conference play. Concordia, St. Paul falls to 8-4 on the season and 4-3 in the NSIC.
A hot start shooting and a dominant defensive finish helped spark the Marauders to victory. UMary put up 21 points in the first quarter to give themselves a seven point lead. The team continued to build off their great start throughout the remainder of the game, holding a lead as large as 16 points in the fourth quarter. UMary used their stout defense to close the game out. UMary held the Golden Bears to their lowest point total of any quarter in the fourth.
The Marauders snapped the Golden Bears four game win streak while defending their undefeated record on the home court.

UMary was dominant on the glass posting a total of 43 rebounds on the game compared to the Bears 35.
Cassie Askvig posted a massive double-double on the game. The junior totaled 18 points and 17 rebounds. She shot 50 percent from the field and knocked down both of her three point attempts. She added two assists to her impressive day.
Gabbie Bohl continued to show why she's the leading scorer in the NSIC. Bohl put up 20 points on 47 percent shooting. She added seven rebounds and two assists on the day. The junior performed on the defensive end as well, posting a game high of three blocks.
Shooters shoot and if you're Coral Gillette, it's done very accurately too. The sophomore knocked down three treys on the game, shooting 60 percent from behind the arc and 71 percent from the field for a total of 13 points.
Macy Williams controlled the tempo of the game from her position of point guard. The Sussex, Wisconsin native posted a game high of five assists.
Lindsay Dorr led the Golden Bears with 17 points and nine rebounds.
UMary will be back in action Saturday, January 5 at 3:30 PM against Minnesota State Mankato to close out the weekend homestand.
