Marauders-Golden Eagles baseball April 4 twin bill relocating to Watford City

BISMARCK, ND – The University of Mary baseball doubleheader scheduled at home against the University of Minnesota Crookston on Wednesday, April 4, is heading west due to unplayable field conditions in Bismarck. The Marauders and the Golden Eagles will tangle with one another in Watford City, ND. the Northern Sun twin bill will begin at 1:30 pm.

The Marauders enter the Golden Eagles doubleheader with a mark of 2-22 overall and 0-14 in the NSIC. The Golden Eagles are 10-17 and 0-12.
 
UMary played six games in three days last week, playing a pair in Duluth, MN, against the University of Minnesota Duluth and a four-game set against Minnesota State in Saint Peter, MN. The games against the Mavericks were originally scheduled for Bismarck.
 
While still in search of a conference win, there were several highlights for the Marauders last week. In consecutive games, UMary pitchers combined for a 3-hitter and a 2-hitter in a 5-2 loss at UMD and a 2-0 loss to Minnesota State.
 
Making his second collegiate start, Sr. RHP Trevor Zacher didn't allow a hit until the fourth inning of a 5-2 loss at Minnesota Duluth. The former Marauders basketball player struck out six, allowed two hits and walked four in six innings. Just one of the five runs he allowed was earned.
 
Sr. RHP Jake Johnson outdid Zacher the following day when he pitched a two-hit complete game against Minnesota State. The Cambridge, MN, native walked two, struck out two and allowed just one earned run.
 
Offensively the Marauders have posted solid numbers. UMary is fifth in the NSIC with a .292 batting average, third in steals with 33 and sixth in on base percentage (.367).
 
Leading the offensive production is OF Jesus Payan, who produced his third four-hit game of the season last week and is hitting .430/.460/.488 this year in his first season with the Marauders. He is fifth in the NSIC in batting average (.430) and sixth in on base percentage (.460). In six games last week he hit .450/.455/.550, finishing 9-for 20 with two runs scored, two doubles and four RBIs.
 
Hitting first or second much of the season, Jaxon Ford is batting .277/.388/.313. The sophomore outfielder is tied with Seth Siverson for the team lead in runs scored with 17 and is 10-for-12 in steal attempts. Last week the Bismarck, ND, native hit .386/.455/.421 in six games with a double, three runs scored and two RBIs.
 
Finding an offensive groove over the last couple weeks, junior utility player Connor Doll has his slash line up to average up to .291/.371/.364, scoring eight times and diving in eight this year. Last week he posted a line of .294/.400/.455 with a double, triple, three runs scored and two RBIs.
 
Travis Stevens, who leads the Marauders with 27 innings pitched and a 6.00 ERA, is second on the team in hitting at .299. His on base percentage of .420 is second on the squad.
