THIS WEEK
The University of Mary wraps up six straight home games at the McDowell Activity Center with a pair of Northern Sun contests. The St. Cloud State University Huskies visit first on Friday, Nov. 7, at 7:30 pm. The homestand and the weekend concludes on Saturday, Nov. 8, when the University of Minnesota Duluth Bulldogs make their appearance at the MAC. Game time is 5:30 pm.
 
THE RECORD
After winning their last four games – all at home - the Marauders are 4-3 overall and 1-0 in the Northern Sun.
 
LAST TIME OUT
Evan Anderson provided a spark off the bench and led a balanced University of Mary men's basketball team offensive attack in an 81-71 victory over visiting Mayville State University. The nonconference win is the fourth straight win for the Marauders, all coming at home in the McDowell Activity Center. Anderson scored a career-high 14 points, including 12 in the first half. Anderson hit 6-of-9 shots – including a long three just before the halftime buzzer for a 45-32 UMary lead – and made four steals. Matthew Kreklow and Jaylan White both had 13 points. White added four assists to his point total while Kreklow had four blocks, six rebounds and two assist. Dennis Austin III scored 11 with four rebounds and Lucas Mayer chipped in ten.  
Tom Kubank just missed a double double with nine points and nine rebounds. The senior forward also had four assists. The Marauders had a solid shooting night, making 47.7 percent of their shots overall and 6-of-14 from behind the arc. Defensively UMary held Mayville State to a 35.2 percent shooting performance, including a 13-for-35 night behind the arc.
 
RADIO DIAL READJUSTMENT
The broadcast of the Marauders men's and women's basketball games on Saturday, Dec. 8, against Minnesota Duluth moves down the radio dial to KFYR 550 AM from UMary's traditional home on Fox Sports 710.
 
HOME COOKING
The Marauders opened their six game home stand at the MAC with wins over Yellowstone Christian College, South Dakota School of Mines and Technology, Minot State University and Mayville State University. The Marauders wrap up their run of home games this weekend against St. Cloud State (12.7) and Minnesota Duluth (12.8).
 
FOUR
The Marauders four-game win streak is the longest for the program since running off eight straight wins in the 2015-16 season.
 
FIVE
Going back to last season, the Marauders have won five straight home games. This is their longest win streak at the McDowell Activity Center since claiming five straight during the 2015-16 season… The next longest home win streak for the Marauders is ten straight games in 2010-11.
 
DEEEE-FENSE
Seven games into the season, the Marauders are posting impressive defensive figures. UMary leads Northern Sun teams in scoring defense (58.9 ppg), second in field goal percentage defense (.393) and sixth in steals (7.6 spg).
 
DEEEE-FENSE PART 2
The Marauders stand third in NCAA Division II in points allowed (56.8 ppg). UMary is 46^th in field goal percentage defense (.403).
 
R.I.P. TO OPPONENT'S POINT TOTALS
The Marauders defense has undergone a major Reduction In Points. Last year UMary gave up 77 points per game, 18 more than what the Marauders are allowing this season through the first six games (58.9 ppg).

The Marauders held their opponents to 66 or fewer points through the first six games of the season before Mayville State scored 71 in game seven. Last year UMary held opponents to 66 or fewer points just FOUR times in 27 games.

• The Marauders had outrebounded the opposition in three straight games before UMary and Mayville State both grabbed an equal amount
• UMary has forced more turnovers than it has committed in 6-of-7 games

Sr. F Tom Kubank is the Marauders leading scorer this season and much of his production comes from behind the arc. The Adelaide, South Australia, native averages 14 points/game and makes 2.7 treys/game, 11^th in the NSIC.
 
SWAT CITY
So. F Matthew Kreklow is 7th in the NSIC in blocked shots at 1.7/game after swatting away four attempts by the Comets. He also averages 11 ppg and 5.6 rebounds/game to rank second on the Marauders in both categories. The post player is 18-of-23 at the line to rank 14^th in the NSIC in free throw percentage (.783).
 
WHITE BOARD
Jr. G Jaylan White is a sparkplug for the Marauders on both ends of the court. His assist to turnover ratio is 3.0 to rank 5th in the NSIC. At the line White is 27-of-30 for a .900 free throw percentage, 5th in the league. He is also 10th in assists at 3.9/game. The Marauders point guard averages 10.6 points/game.
 
TAKES A VILLAGE
The Marauders are 9^th in the NSIC in rebounding margin at +3.7 despite not having anyone ranked in the Northern Sun top 20. Dennis Austin III leads the Marauders with 5.8 rebounds/game. Followed by Matthew Kreklow at 5.6. Six Marauders average at least 3.0 rebounds/game.
 
REGIONAL RANKINGS
Both Marauders opponents this weekend are in the D2SIDA Men's Basketball Regional Rankings. St. Cloud State is 7^th in the Central region and Minnesota Duluth is tied for 10^th.
 
OPPO RESEARCH: ST. CLOUD STATE UNIVERSITY HUSKIES
The preseason co-favorite in the Northern Sun, St. Cloud State has ranked as high as 13^th in national polls this season. The Huskies are 5-2 overall – with three wins against teams nationally ranked or receiving votes – and 0-1 in the Northern Sun after a loss to Minnesota Duluth. The Huskies are led by All-American Sr. G Gage Davis. The 3x All-NSIC 1^st team selection averages 20.7 points/game, 8.1 rebounds/game and 2.1 assists/game and is shooting 51.4 percent from the floor. Sean Smith averages 15.4 ppg and 8.0 rpg. A balanced attack, SCSU has two others also averaging double digits in points with a third just missing.  SCSU is fifth in the NSIC in scoring at 86 ppg and 12^th defensively at 76.9 ppg.
 
HISTORY LESSON - MARAUDERS v. HUSKIES
UMary is 9-14 all-time against St. Cloud State… The Marauders are 6-4 at home, 3-8 at SCSU and 0-2 on neutral ground… UMary's first NCAA win came at SCSU 86-77 on 11.18.06… UMary's first signature NCAA win was a 77-48 home victory over #8 SCSU on 12.16.07… Prior to 2017-18, UMary and SCSU have split their season series three out of the last four years (SCSU swept in 2015-16). The Marauders lost to SCSU last season 77-66 at home (Dec. 31, 2017) and 79-57 on the road (Feb. 9, 2018)…The Marauders last win over the Huskies came at home in the McDowell Activity Center on Feb. 10, 2017, by a score of 99-79.
 
OPPO RESEARCH VS. THE UNIVERSITY OF MINNESOTA DULUTH BULLDOGS
Led by All-Conference forward Brandon Myer, the Bulldogs are off to a strong start under first year head coach Justin Wieck at 4-1 overall and 1-0 in the NSIC after defeating St. Cloud State 91-81 on the road last weekend. The Bulldogs return all five starters from last season and nine players overall. Myer averages 21.8 ppg, third in the NSIC. He is fourth in rebounding at 9.0/game and is shooting 56.5 percent from the field. Sean Burns is one of the leading rebounders in the NSIC (8.0 rpg) and is second in field goal percentage (.658), averaging 11.8 ppg. Logan Rohrscheib chips in 11.8 ppg. UMD averages 81 ppg but is third in the NSIC in defensive scoring, allowing only 62.8 ppg. The Bulldogs top the NSIC in turnover margin at +5 per game.
                                  
HISTORY LESSON - MARAUDERS v. BULLDOGS
UMary trails Minnesota Duluth 7-12 in the all-time series… The Marauders first victory over the Bulldogs was an 80-77 overtime win on 1.16.09… UMD swept the season series last year, winning 63-58 in Duluth on Dec. 30, 2017, and 67-60 in Bismarck on Feb. 10, 2018… The Marauders last win over the Bulldogs was an 81-66 victory at home in the McDowell Activity Center on Feb. 11, 2017… The last UMary win at UMD was 82-72 on Jan. 29, 2011.
 
THE BORTKE COURT MAC ATTACK
The Marauders opened up their home schedule with a pair of wins this season after struggling last season at the McDowell Activity Center. Despite last year's setback, UMary has found success in recent seasons at the MAC. The playing floor was christened Bortke Court in honor of long-time Mary men's basketball coach and athletic director Al Bortke in July 2009. Here is the Marauders NCAA Division II home record:
