Marauders Take Down Minot State For Second Time This Season

MINOT, ND – The University of Mary women's basketball team took down Minot State for the second time this season with their 67-58 victory today.  A big 20 point and 12 rebounds double-double by Cassie Askvig propelled the Marauders to a big win over their in-state rivals Minot State.

With the win the Marauders improve to 7-2 on the season and 5-1 in conference play. The Beavers fall to 5-7 overall and 0-6 in conference play.

It was a big first quarter by the Marauders that primed them for victory over the Beavers. UMary put up 23 points in quarter one, Minot State was only able to rally together eight. The Marauders closed out the first quarter on a 15-0 run. Bohl posted eight points as part of the Marauders big first quarter.

The Beavers held the advantage in scoring for the remainder of the three quarters but they could not overcome the massive deficit they found themselves in after the first quarter.

Macy Williams put up 14 points on the game while knocking down six of her seven shots from the charity stripe.

Gabbie Bohl scored 11 points to go along with her seven rebounds.

Second chance points and points off turnovers proved to be the difference in the game. UMary scored 16 points off of turnovers. The Marauders put up nine second chance points in comparison to the Beavers three.

Tonya Dvorak, Kassandra Bartek, and Coral Gillette all posted three assists on the game for a tie for the game high.

Bartek shot one hundred percent from behind the arc on the day knocking down both her attempts to put up six points on the game.

Madison Wald led the Beavers with 16 points off of 4-6 shooting from behind the arc.

The Marauders return to action at the McDowell Activity Center next weekend against Minnesota State and Concordia, St. Paul. UMary takes on Concordia, St. Paul on Friday, January 4 at 5:30 PM. They will follow that up with a game against Minnesota State on Saturday, January 5 at 5:30 PM.
