MITCHELL, SD – The University of Mary wrestling team made the trek down to Mitchell, South Dakota to participate in the Dakota Wesleyan Open. The Marauders chose to rest the majority of their starters from their dominant win over Minot State just two days earlier. The Marauders were led by Max Bruss who tied for third.
 
Bruss, competing in the 149 weight class would go 5-1 to tie for third place. The freshman dropped his first match of the day to the tournament runner up and then strung together five straight wins. Bruss won three of those matches by fall.
 
Bruss, Emmitt Brooks, and Lance Jarrett were the only three Marauders starters from the win over Minot who participated in todays open competition. Brooks went 1-1 on the day, winning his first match by a 7-2 decision. Jarrett went 3-2 on the day. The freshman dropped his first match of the day and then rallied together three straight wins before losing his last match of the day to eliminate him from competition.
 
Logan Mahoney and Ryan Stottler both posted winning records on the day. Stottler would go 4-2 and Mahoney posted a 3-2 record at the DWU open.
 
Wrestling unattached for UMary Dom Tutor (285) would finish fourth, Payton Hume (157) finished 5th, Devin Steidler (149) tied for third, and Trevor Fauver (141) took 6th.
 
Next up for the UMary wrestling team will be the Kearney Holiday Inn Open on Saturday, November 17 in Kearney, NE.
