BOISE, ID – The quest for perfection continues for the University of Mary hockey team as the Marauders posted their 12
th straight win, a 4-0 victory over Texas A&M to conclude the Bronco Invite.
In the inaugural season for UMary hockey, the Marauders improved to 12-0 and finished a perfect weekend at the Bronco Invite, winning all four contests against fellow ACHA Division II squads. UMary posted two shutouts and outscored the opposition 18-2 during the trip to Boise, ID.
Methodically the Marauders took apart the Aggies, scoring single goals in each of the first two periods while shutting down their attack.
Ben Kottmeier hammered home the opening goal of the game 12:12 into the contest with assists from Andy Huber and
Zachery Garrett.
After allowing the Aggies to fire just three shots on goal in the first period, the second proved more free-flowing as UMary held a 12-11 edge in shots. Despite the offensive flow, the Marauders scored the lone goal of the middle period as
Logan Kraft expanded the UMary lead to 2-0 at the 7:37 mark.
Reverting back to their defensive form, the Marauders tightened the screws and held the Aggies to two shots. UMary, meanwhile, scored on two of its six shots with
Alex Flicek and
Phillip Silveria posting goals.
Kraft finished with a goal and an assist and
Alexander Horner chipped in two assists.
Lance Knudson posted his second shutout of the season, making 16 saves to earn his sixth win. This was the fewest shots he has faced this year.
The Marauders return home for a pair of games against Montana State University on Homecoming weekend, facing the Bobcats at 7 pm on Saturday, Oct. 13, and 2 pm on Sunday, Oct. 14.
