BISMARCK, ND – With snow forecasted for Wednesday in the Red River Valley, the University of Mary softball games against MSU Moorhead are switching places. The Marauders and the Dragons will now play their Northern Sun doubleheader in Bismarck, ND, on April 26.
The Marauders-Dragons twin bill will start at 2 pm with the second game commencing around 4 pm at the Clem Kelly softball complex on diamond #8.
UMary, 18-31 overall and 12-12 in the NSIC, is tied for ninth place in the standings and two wins out of fifth. The top ten teams make the conference playoff. MSU Moorhead is 8-33 and 3-21, 15
th in the league.
Just six games remain in the regular season for the Marauders. After hosting the Dragons on Wednesday, the Marauders remain home to face Minnesota State and Concordia-St. Paul. The Mavericks lead the NSIC at 23-2 and the Golden Bears are 13
th at 7-17.
In their last 15 games, the Marauders have posted ten wins to climb into the playoff race.
Three seniors will close out the regular season this week;
Taylor Mendez,
Amber Gamboa and
Lex Hubbard.
A two-time All-NSIC performer, Mendez has settled into first base this season and is hitting .347 with team-leading totals of nine home runs, 11 doubles, two triples, 33 runs scored, a .637 slugging percentage and an on base percentage of .429. She was named the NSIC Player of the Week on Monday, the second time she was recognized this year.
Also a two-time All-NSIC selection, Gamboa is the Marauders primary catcher. She is hitting .245 with six doubles, four home runs and 23 RBIs. Gamboa has throw out 14 runners attempting to steal.
The Marauders starting right fielder for a second straight season, Hubbard is hitting .207 with two doubles, a home run, ten runs scored and ten runs driven in. She has thrown out two baserunners attempting to advance on the bases.
