U-MARY'S DEVAN DOUGLAS SELECTED TO SLAM DUNK ROSTER FOR THE 2016 STATE FARM COLLEGE SLAM DUNK & 3-POINT CHAMPIONSHIPSÂ
All-Star Event to Air Live on ESPN March 31Â
CHICAGO (March 22, 2016) – The University of Mary's
Devan Douglas has been selected to the Slam Dunk Championship roster for the 28th annual State Farm College Slam Dunk & 3-Point Championships at Berry Center in Cypress, Texas, on March 31, Intersport announced today. He is one of eight men's college basketball players chosen for the event that will air live on ESPN at 8 p.m. Douglas was invited to take part in the Slam Dunk Championship after being recognized among the nation's finest slam dunk performers.

A senior from Clinton, Iowa, Douglas is the first Marauders basketball player to compete in the State Farm College Slam Dunk & 3-point Championships.

Intersport, producers of the event, invites 24 of the nation's elite men's and women's college basketball players to compete in the State Farm College Slam Dunk & 3-Point Championships (eight dunkers, along with eight men's and eight women's shooters). The program showcases the dunking and sharp-shooting talents of the nation's top college basketball players during the Men's 3-Point Shooting Championship, the Women's 3-Point Shooting Championship, the Battle of the Champions, and the Slam Dunk Championship.

Over the last 27 years, several of the top players in college basketball have competed in the College Slam Dunk & 3-Point Championships including: Gary Payton, Steve Nash, Jason Terry, Kyle Korver, Aaron Brooks, Bobby Hurley, Michael Finley, Damon Stoudamire, Allan Houston, Wes Matthews, Cappie Pondexter, Katie Gearlds, and Kristi Toliver.

Douglas played an integral role in the Marauders turnaround season. U-Mary increased its win total by ten games and advanced to the Northern Sun semifinals for just the second time in school history. The Marauders 19 wins is the program's second-highest total since beginning NCAA play in 2006-07.

After playing just five games in 2014-15 due to injury, Douglas started all 31 games for U-Mary this season. The 6-3 guard averaged 9.3 points per game, 4.7 rebounds per game and 1.5 assists per game. He shot 53.1 percent from the floor. A transfer from Kirkwood College, Douglas averaged 8.3 points/game in 59 games over three seasons at U-Mary and made 52.2 percent of his field goal attempts.
