Box Score MINOT, N.D. - The University of Mary wasn't going to let a first set hiccup derail its play as the Marauders beat Minot State 3-1 (20-25, 25-12, 25-18 and 25-19) in a Northern Sun volleyball match Tuesday, Oct. 17.

Lauren Randall had 20 kills and hit .240 for the Marauders (9-12, 4-8 NSIC) and finished with nine digs. It was the sixth time this season that Randall finished a match with 20 or more kills.

Mary lost the first set as the Beavers hit .545 as a team but the Marauders stormed back to take the next three sets. Mary hit .353 in the match, its third best hitting percentage of the season.

The Marauders dominated offensively finishing with 15-plus more points and kills then its in-state rival but the Beavers (5-16, 0-12 NSIC) tied Mary with seven total blocks. Mary also held a 5-4 edge in service aces.

Shelby Spuller had a team-high 13 kills for MSU and senior libero Cindy Pelo led the team with 17 digs in the match. Sophomore setter Kelsey Dewulf finished with 31 assists for the NSIC team that is yet without a win in conference.

Three Marauders plus Randall finished with double-digit kills in the match.
Thayna Silva collected 17 while teammates
Rachel Astrup and
Freddie Campbell added 11 and 10 a piece.

Geovana Almeida finished with a team-high 17 digs as teammate
Alex Brown added 10 more.

Janell Finkbeiner was credited with 56 assists, nine digs and two total blocks.

Next up for the Marauders is a home match at McDowell Activity Center at 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 21 against Minnesota State University - Mankato (9-11, 3-9 NSIC).
