Austin Grundstad pounded out six hits on the day as the Marauders opened up their ten game spring break trip.
Six games into their 2014 schedule, the Marauders have played a nationally ranked team each time after opening the season with four contests at St. Mary's University.
GAME 1: #18 Barry University 16 U-Mary 10
Derek Somerville drove in four runs and
Austin Grundstad scored three times but the Marauders (0-5 overall) couldn't parlay their best offensive game of the season into a win.
Highlighted by a
Jason Shaul run-scoring double, U-Mary jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning before Barry (14-2) scored twice in the bottom of one. Both teams would score twice each in the third before the Buccaneers tallied three times in the fourth and two more times in the fifth.
Playing from behind for the first time, U-Mary posted five runs in the sixth to knot the game at 9-9. Somerville hit a two-run single between third and short to cap the Marauders rally.
