BISMARCK, N.D. – One game after scoring her first collegiate goal,
Sabra Bertsch stretched her streak to two with a brilliant golden goal early into overtime to lift the University of Mary to a 1-0 Northern Sun win over Concordia University, St. Paul.
Taking the ball on a throw-in from
Mykala Benjamin 15 yards in front of the net, Bertsch blasted the ball over the outstretched arms of Golden Bears goalkeeper Emma Gartner into the upper right corner of the net just 3:03 into the first overtime.
A sophomore forward, Bertsch scored her first collegiate goal on Sunday in a 3-2 loss at Winona State.
Concordia had the early momentum, outshooting U-Mary 8-3 in the first half. The Marauders started gaining momentum after intermission, posting an 8-6 edge in shots. For the game, the Golden Bears had a 15-12 advantage in shots but the Marauders held a 7-6 edge in shots on frame.

The win in the Marauders Breast Cancer Awareness Game snapped a three-match losing streak for U-Mary, which improved to 3-5-3 overall and 2-4-2 in the NSIC. Concordia slips to 4-6-1 overall and 3-4-1 in the NSIC.
The Marauders remain undefeated against the Golden Bears, improving to 12-0-1 all-time.
U-Mary closes out the weekend hosting #2 Minnesota State University at 1 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 12, at the MDU Resources Community Bowl.
