U-Mary sloppy in game one; bounce back for split

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 Bismarck, N.D.—The University of Mary (13-10, 2-4 NSIC) was plagued by errors as they fell 16-8 (five innings) to Sioux Falls (8-12, 3-3). U-Mary bounced back in game two behind solid defense and another strong outing from Cherlyn Trujillo for a 6-1 win.
 
Erin Keen and Kristin Ormsby were bright spot for the Marauders in game one. Keen was 3-for-4 with two solo home runs. Ormsby was 2-for-3 including a three run home run.
 
U-Mary's six errors were costly leading to nine unearned runs by USF.
 
Allison Brown was the only Marauder to record multiple hits in the second game going 2-for-3. Brown had a two RBI triple in the third and a solo homer in the fifth.
 
Trujillo was spectacular for the second consecutive day. After a 16 strikeout performance yesterday, Trujillo bounced back with 14 today. The junior from San Jose, Calif. allowed just three hits and did not walk a single batter.
 
U-Mary limited their mistakes in game two, nearly finishing without an error until a lapse in the seventh allowed a runner to reach.
 
With a 2-4 start to conference play this week, the Marauders will continue Northern Sun action on Tuesday as they host Minnesota Crookston (2-15, 1-5 NSIC) on campus at 2 p.m.
