Box Score Las Vegas, Nev. – Entering the day with a perfect 4-0 record, the University of Mary was looking to complete their perfect opening weekend at the Montana State University Billings Desert Stinger tournament. U-Mary narrowly escaped with a 5-4 win over St. Cloud State (2-3) and a perfect 5-0 record at the MSUB Desert Stinger.

The Marauders jumped out to a 3-0 lead after Brittney Hadley hit a three-run homer in the bottom of the second. Both teams scored two runs in the third and the Huskies added two more in the fourth to close the gap to 5-4. Leading by one in the fifth, Cherlyn Trujillo entered the game in relief and was lights out pitching three perfect innings and recording four strikeouts.

Four different players recorded a hit for U-Mary and Kristin Ormsby was the only player with more than one. Julissa Perales finished with just one hit, but that hit was a two run double in the bottom of the third. The sophomore also drew two walks.

Kimberly McKnight made her first career start for the Marauders as she picked up the win.
