Bismarck, ND – Brats, baseball and a special radio broadcast highlight the University of Mary Military Appreciation Day on Wednesday, April 25, at Bismarck Municipal Ballpark. All fans are encouraged to come out for free brats and refreshments at 11:30 AM and free admission to the Marauders baseball game at 12:30 PM as U-Mary honors the members of the United States Armed Forces.
Everyone is encouraged to come out for free food between 11:30 AM and 1 PM, courtesy of Central Market.
A silent auction, which includes special camouflage jerseys worn by the Marauders players during the game, begins at 11:30 AM and runs until the start of the second game. Proceeds go to Military Ovation, a new organization in the Dakotas with the mission of "standing in support of the troops, veterans and their families.
The ceremonial first pitch for the Marauders Northern Sun doubleheader with visiting Bemidji State University is scheduled for 12:30 PM. Bismarck Chamber of Commerce President Kevin Hullett and Army National Guard soldier Rashad Schaffner, who is scheduled to deploy shortly, will throw out the first pitch.
Laurie Thompson of Military Ovation will follow with the singing of the Star Spangled Banner.
ESPN 710 will broadcast the first game of the day with the Marauders football and basketball twin tandem of Rick Anthony, the Voice of the Marauders, and former U-Mary All-American Jeff Groseclose calling the action. Special guests will join the pair each inning. This is the first radio broadcast of Marauders baseball in recent memory.
