Burnsville, MN – Making the team's third straight Northern Sun softball conference tournament, the University of Mary will face the University of Minnesota Duluth in the opening round on Thursday, April 26. The fifth-seeded Marauders face the fourth-seeded Bulldogs at 11 AM on the Rochester (MN) Community and Technical College Field #6.
 
U-Mary finished the regular season 26-17 overall and 15-11 in the NSIC. UMD is 36-18 and 18-6. The Marauders were swept by the Bulldogs in the only meets between the two teams.
 
The Marauders-Bulldogs winner will face the victor between #1 seed Minnesota State University and #8 Wayne State College. The U-Mary-UMD and MSU-WSC losers will meet in an elimination game.
 
In three trips to the NSIC tournament (2008, 20010-11) the Marauders are 4-6, including a 1-2 record last season.
 
The 2012 NSIC Softball Tournament Champion receives an automatic berth to the NCAA Division II Softball Central Regional played May 4-6, followed by the NCAA Super Regionals on May 11-12, at a campus yet to be determined. The NCAA Finals are set for May 15-19 at Knights Field in Louisville, Ky. during the NCAA Spring Sports Festival.
