He also picked up a hit and an RBI in game two. Deyle had three hits, scored three runs and stole two bases in the nightcap to lead a U-Mary offense that generated 12 hits.

The opener was a tight contest through the first four innings as Marauders (2-18 overall, 1-5 NSIC) starter Michael Vollrath held Concordia in check. Carroll led off the second inning with a blast over the left field fence for the first run of the game. The Golden Bears (11-7, 3-3) evened the game with an unearned run in the fourth.

The game turned in the fifth as the Golden Bears struck for four runs. Logan Bouts hit a bases loaded two-run single to right field and Doug Stearns followed with a run-scoring single with a second run coming home as the ball was misplayed in the outfield.

U-Mary had hitters reach base in the sixth and seventh innings but couldn’t push across a run.

Troy DuBay and Bouts each had three hits for the Golden Bears as CSP totaled 12 hits. The Marauders were limited to five.

After a solid start to the game, Vollrath allowed four earned runs in 4.1 innings and struck out three hitters. Kyal Williams threw 2.2 scoreless innings.

Ben Lemke picked up the win for Concordia, striking out eight while allowing one run and five hits in 6.0 innings.

After the Marauders held the Golden Bears in check most of the opener, Concordia University would score runs in six different innings of the nightcap. CSP posted two runs in each of the first two innings, a single runs in the third, fifth and eighth innings, and applied the knock-out punch with four in the sixth.

The Golden Bears scored the first six runs before the Marauders managed a single run. Concordia built its advantage to 10-1 with a four-run sixth.

Deyle paced a U-Mary offense that posted 12 hits. Cory Herback added two and seven other Marauders had one.

DuBay and Kyle Dalton each had three of the Golden Bears 14 hits and both scored twice.

The Marauders and the Golden Bears conclude their four-game Northern Sun series with a doubleheader at noon on Sunday, April 1.

#marauders#
