Las Vegas, NV – Sami Antolin drove in four runs and Brooke Hageness three for the University of Mary but the Marauders were stunned by a three-run seventh inning rally in an 11-10 loss to Metro State College. A loss in the final game of the Desert Stinger leaves U-Mary with a 3-2 record in the Las Vegas-based tournament.

The Marauders opened the scoring with four runs in the second inning, highlighted by a two run double by Hageness. The Roadrunners immediately responded with four of their own in the bottom of the inning.

Four walks and two errors led to three U-Mary runs in the third and a ground out by Desiree Smith scored another Marauders in the fourth. The Marauders hit double digits when Antolin blasted a two-run home run in the fifth.

Metro State kept within striking distance, plating a run in the third, two in the fourth and another single run in the fifth.

In position to pick up the win with a 10-8 lead entering the bottom of the seventh, the game suddenly took a bad turn for the Marauders when Metro State hit back to back home runs to lead off the inning and tie the game. After the next two batters reached base on a hit by pitch and a walk, U-Mary starting pitcher Erin Keen returned to pitch and retired the next two hitters. With two outs and runners on second and third, the game would end on a passed ball, scoring with winning run for Metro State.

Antolin had two hits, scored two runs and drove in four. Hageness had one hit, scored once and drove in three. Jenna Button had a team-high three hits. Allison Brown and Melissa Gonzalez both scored twice.

The Marauders are 3-2 this season and return to the diamond February 26 against Flagler College on the squad's spring trip to Clermont, FL.
