MARYLAND HEIGHTS, MO – Another impressive season for the University of Mary hockey team came to a close in the second round of the 2026 American Collegiate Hockey Association Men's Division 1 national tournament for a third straight season. After winning an opening round game for the sixth straight year, the 10
th seeded Marauders fell to 7
th seed Maryville University 5-1.
The Marauders, who set a program ACHA MD1 record for wins in a season, finish 2025-26 with a mark of 27-14-0-0-0-1 (W-L-OTL-T-SOW-SOL) overall. The Saints improve to 19-8-1-0-2-0.
Playing in their tournament opener after receiving a first round bye, the Saints came out buzzing. Jack Henderson scored just 2:41 into the contest in a game played just 8.5 miles from the Maryville University campus. The Saints needed just another 94 seconds to double its advantage on an Ethan Chesney goal. Maryville tacked on a third goal at 13:51 to enter the first intermission with a 3-0 advantage.
Looking to get back into the game, the Marauders earned three power play opportunities over the next 25 minutes following the Saints third goal, including a 5-minute major penalty opportunity late in the second, UMary was unable to take advantage of the extra skater despite holding a 16-9 edge in shots in the second period.
In a penalty-filled third period that featured six calls on the Marauders and two on the Saints, Maryville scored twice in the first 13:15, including once on a power play.
Will Falconer tallied for UMary with 3:50 left in the game to get the Marauders on the board.
Isaac Flatley and
Liam Massie picked up assists.
For Falconer and Massie it was their second points of the weekend. Both Massie and Falconer assisted on the winning goal in UMary's 2-1 opening round victory over Lawrence Tech.
Maryville finished with a 37-33 edge in shots. Both teams had four power play opportunities with the Saints scoring the lone goal with an extra skater.
