Brooke Mulholland came up big for the University of Mary tennis team (1-3, 1-2 Northern Sun) as the Marauders picked up their first win of the season, defeating St. Cloud State University (1-4, 1-2 NSIC) 4-3.
With the score tied at 3-3, all eyes were on Mulholland in #6 singles. The freshman from Brainerd, MN, defeated Hannah Oing 6-3, 6-0 to win the match and the dual.
UMary won the doubles competition 2-1, giving the Marauders one team point.
Elizabete Lekse and
Josie Sueflohn won #1 doubles 6-4 over Liliana Ruy Sánchez Mendivil and Lara-Maria Schaefer.
Natalia Jorge Magarzo and
Maja Panganiban took down #2 doubles by defeating Margarita Vinichenko and Gibby Chapman 6-3.
Brooke Mulholland and
Anna Sueflohn fell in #3 doubles 6-4 to Oriana Grott and Brooklyn Broadwell.
Natalia Jorge Magarzo picked up her first win of the season in #1 singles, defeating Liliana Ruy Sánchez Mendivil 6-3, 6-4.
Anna Sueflohn won in #4 singles after she beat Gibby Chapman 6-2, 6-2.
Elizabete Lekse fell 6-3, 6-2 to Margarita Vinichenko in #2 singles.
Josie Sueflohn was defeated in #3 singles 6-2, 6-1 by Lara-Maria Schaefer.
#5 singles saw
Maja Panganiban lose a hard-fought match 6-3, 6-4 to Brooklyn Broadwell.
The Marauders stay in Sartell, MN, to compete against Minnesota State University Moorhead on Saturday, February 21, at 4:30 pm.
