BISMARCK, ND – The University of Mary volleyball team (4-13, 2-6 Northern Sun) was overwhelmed by the high-powered offense of the #11 Southwest Minnesota State University (13-3, 7-2 NSIC) as the Marauders fell in three sets at home.
UMary recorded 25 kills on a .236 attack percentage, while SMSU put up 57 kills on a .490 hitting percentage. The Marauders posted 24 assists and had three aces, while the Mustangs had 50 assists and eight aces.
SMSU took control early in the first set and cruised to a 25-16 win. The second set played out the same way as the Mustangs won 25-15.
The Marauders got off to a better start in the third set, taking an 8-7 lead. The lead didn't last, as SMSU went on an 18-4 run to take the set 25-12.
The Marauders finished the game by posting five blocks and 21 digs. The Mustangs did not record a block and put up 36 digs.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
Judith Burke had a team-high eight kills on a .286 hitting percentage. Burke also contributed two aces.
Holli Klettheimer recorded five kills and three blocks.
Peyton Hohn had five kills on an impressive .714 attack percentage. Hohn also had two blocks.
Chloe Solheid had a team-best six digs.
Natalie Boehmer dished out 17 assists and had three digs.
Ruby Rengo added two blocks.
