WAYNE, NE – Despite a tremendous attacking performance by
Holli Klettheimer, the University of Mary volleyball team (4-14, 2-8 Northern Sun) could not overcome #2 Wayne State College (18-1, 10-0 NSIC), falling in three sets (25-12, 25-17, 25-14).
Klettheimer finished with nine kills on 16 attempts to give her an impressive .563 attack percentage. UMary recorded 26 kills on a .134 hitting percentage, while WSC put up 46 kills on a .440 attack percentage. The Marauders posted 24 assists and had five aces, while the Wildcats had 35 assists and four aces.
WSC grabbed an early lead in the first set and never looked back, winning 25-12. The Marauders fell behind 19-5 in the second set but showed grit by going on a 12-4 run to cut the lead to 23-17.
The Wildcats took down the last two points to win the second set to win 25-17. WSC won the third set 25-14, despite a late 5-0 run by UMary.
The Marauders finished the game by posting four blocks and 25 digs. The Wildcats recorded eight blocks and 40 digs.

Judith Burke posted seven kills and one ace.
Norah Thome had a team-high six digs and two aces.
Natalie Boehmer dished out 21 assists and added two blocks.
Ruby Rengo posted four kills and three blocks.
Chloe Solheid had four digs and one ace.
Karina Hixon added five digs.
