BISMARCK, ND – The University of Mary volleyball team (4-12, 2-6 Northern Sun) could not overcome the attack of the University of Sioux Falls (5-11, 1-7 NSIC) as the Marauders fell in three sets (25-18, 25-10, 27-25).
UMary recorded 32 kills on a .099 hitting percentage, while UJ put up 45 kills on a .385 attack percentage. The Marauders posted 30 assists and had seven aces, while the Cougars had 41 assists and three aces.
USF grabbed an early 10-3 lead in the first set. UMary tried to battle back, but USF took down the set 25-18. The second set was dominated by USF, winning 25-10.
The Marauders showed grit in the third set. Trailing 19-14, UMary went on a 4-0 run to cut the USF lead to one. After the Cougars extended their lead to 22-19, the Marauders responded with a huge 5-0 run to take a 24-22 lead thanks to kills by
Judith Burke,
Ruby Rengo and
Gabrielle Reynolds. UMary failed to close out the set after USF won five of the last six points to win 27-25.
The Marauders finished the game by putting up three blocks and 32 digs. The Cougars had 13 blocks and 41 digs.

Judith Burke led the team with 13 kills on a .200 attack percentage.
Gabrielle Reynolds had nine kills.
Chloe Solheid had a team-high eight digs.
Dani Highum posted six digs and two aces in two sets played.
Natalie Boehmer dished out 19 assists and five digs.
Holli Klettheimer had five kills.
Karina Hixon put up three digs and two aces.
Loretta Tisch provided two aces.
