ST. PAUL, MN – A rough fourth quarter would be the demise for the University of Mary women's basketball team as UMary fell 83-69 on the road to Concordia-St. Paul. The Marauders are currently in a three-way tie for third place in the NSIC.
UMary (18-7, 11-5 NSIC) shot 25-of-63 (39.7%) from the floor and 7-of-25 (228%) from three, while CSP (15-6, 11-5 NSIC) went 30-of-58 (51.7%) from the field and 4-of-11 (36.4%) from behind the arc. The Marauders shot 12-of-13 (92.3%) from the free-throw line, while the Golden Bears went 19-of-23 (82.6%) from the charity stripe.
Allison Undlin recorded her 7
th double-double of the season, posting 19 points and 14 rebounds. Undlin shot 8-of-15 from the field and went 2-of-2 from the free-throw line.
Bergan Kinnebrew had 18 points, seven rebounds, six assists, and two steals.
Anna Lenzen put up 13 points and three rebounds.
Chloe Pfau scored 11 points and dished out three assists.
The Marauders jumped out to a good start as they held a 22-15 lead with 1:59 remaining in the first quarter. The Golden Bears would end the quarter on a 5-0 run to make the score 22-20. The second quarter would follow a similar path as UMary held a nine-point advantage with 2:55 left in the first half. CSP would finish the second quarter on a 9-2 run, cutting the Marauders lead to 42-40.
Neither team could gain an advantage in the third quarter as the game would be tied at 60-60 heading into the final quarter. The Golden Bears outscored the Marauders 23-9 in the fourth quarter to secure the 83-69 victory.
UMary controlled the glass, outrebounding CSP 38-31. Turnovers played an important factor as the Marauders turned it over 18 times, compared to only nine giveaways for the Golden Bears.
UMary returns home to welcome the University of Minnesota Duluth to the McDowell Activity Center on Thursday, February 5, at 5:30 pm.
