CHADRON, NE – The University of Mary volleyball team wrapped up the Eagle Classic tournament in a 3-1 defeat to Saint Martin's University and a 3-0 loss to Chadron State College.
UMary vs SMU
UMary fell behind (14-7) early in the first set, and a late rally by the Marauders fell short when SMU went on a 5-0 run to win 25-18. The second set saw the Saints jump out to an 8-1 lead to propel them to a 25-16 set victory.
UMary came out on fire in the third set and took a 7-1 lead. A late rally by SMU was not enough as a Maddy freed ace secured a 25-23 set victory for the Marauders. A back-and-forth fourth set saw UMary hold a 21-19 advantage, before the Saints went on a 6-0 run to win the set and the match.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
Dani Highum recorded a career-high 17 kills and 10 digs.
Natalie Boehmer led the team with 24 assists while also contributing six digs.
Gabby Caskey had eight kills on an impressive .727 hitting percentage.
Katie Bleeker posted a team-best 13 kills.
Judith Burke contributed 14 kills and seven digs.
Shea Barron showcased her skills at the net by recording a team-high six blocks.
Maddy Freed dished out 21 assists while adding 10 digs and three blocks.
UMary Vs CSC
CSC finished the first set on a 15-5 run to take it down 25-12. UMary went on a 7-3 run late in the second set to cut the Eagles lead down to 23-21. CSC won two of the next three points to win the set 25-22. The Eagles kept their momentum rolling with a 25-15 victory in the third to win the match.

Judith Burke and
Gabby Caskey both recorded seven kills.
Katie Bleeker had a team-high 11 digs.
Natalie Boehmer dished out a team-best 18 assists.
UP NEXT
The Marauders head over to Minot, ND, to take part in the 1st International Bank Homecoming Classic. UMary competes in four games over two days beginning on Thursday, September 11, and concluding on Friday, September 12.
