Marauders soccer opens 2025 season at home when the Yellowjackets visit the Bowl on Thursday

THURSDAY
The University of Mary women's soccer team opens the 2025 regular season at home when UMary hosts Montana State University Billings on Thursday, September 4. The non-conference game between the Marauders and the Yellowjackets kicks off at 11 am at the MDU Resources Community Bowl (please note the earlier start time than originally scheduled).
 
UMARY-MSU BILLINGS START TIME MOVED TO 11 AM
The start time for the University of Mary women's soccer 2025 regular season home opener on Thursday, September 4, against MSU Billings is moved up to 11 am. The time change between the Marauders and the visiting Yellowjackets is due to anticipated high winds expected to hit in the afternoon.
 
THE RECORDS (2024 version)
UMary finished the 2024 season 11-4-4 overall and 8-3-3 in the Northern Sun (5th place with 27 points)… MSU Billings finished the 2024 season 6-8-4 overall and 3-7-4 in Great Northwest Athletic Conference play.
 
SEVEN HEAVEN
The Marauders have qualified for postseason play seven straight seasons and eight times total under the helm of head coach Sarah Cook. The seven straight NSIC tournament appearances ties the longest streak in program history when UMary qualified for the postseason its first seven years in the league (2006-2012).
 
HISTORY LESSON
In a series dating back to 2003, the Marauders are 4-11-4 against the Yellowjackets… UMary is 3-2-2 at home… Last season MSUB claimed a 1-0 home win in a game the Marauders held a 24-17 edge in shots… UMary's last win in the series was a 2-0 road win in 2022 behind goals by MaLiah Burke and Mary Meeks… The two teams last played in Bismarck in 2021 with the sides playing to a 1-1 draw in double overtime.

Marauders head coach Sarah Cook earned her 100th victory at UMary in the Marauders 2-1 overtime win at St. Cloud State University in the 2024 NSIC quarterfinals. A member of the Marauders Hall of Fame after earning All-American honors three times as a scjholar-athlete, Cook is in her 14th season after taking over leadership of the program prior to the 2012 season. She is the program record-holder for career coaching wins.
 
EXPERIENCE
The Marauders return 18 players from last year's squad, including 11 who earned at least one start throughout the year and six who made 14 or more. Returners with seven or more starts last season include seniors Tara Young (3 years as a starter), MaLiah Burke (2), Rio Spruenken (3), Olivia Gardner (3), Allison Lepp (1), Kira Hockley (1) and Rachel Gensch (1) and junior Kadyn Sharpe (2).
